For the past few months, I have been having intermittent issues with my MacBook Pro. The main problem has been iTunes not behaving. A typical scenario is simply starting iTunes and it just hangs with no window or anything. When I resort to force quitting, once again… nothing. Upon restarting the computer It took over 10 minutes. To be sure the restart wasn’t a fluke I restarted again and got the same result. At this point I became concerned that there was more going on than a simple iTunes issue.
Like I said, this has been happening for the past few months and it always seems to work itself out. Today I had a few moments to spare so I repaired permissions, as recommended, and still iTunes was freezing on start. I was on the verge of reinstalling iTunes and decided to do it from the comfort of my living room. As soon as I unplugged my peripherals iTunes fired right up. BINGO! The problem all along has been my iPod shuffle. I made sure to restart my computer to see if it was still slow, and once again startup retuned to its snappy self. I’m sure others have encountered this problem so I hope this helps.
If anyone knows a real fix for this issue other than just not leaving my shuffle connected, let me know.
